Youth on the Move: Examining the Why Report

Workforce sustainability in the Stratford Bruce Peninsula Economic Region (SBPER) continues to be threatened by an aging population and persistent labour shortages. Retaining local youth while attracting early- and mid-career workers from other regions represents a key opportunity to strengthen the region’s labour force.
Youth on the Move – Examining the Why explores the drivers of youth migration and examines how SBPER can better align its retention and attraction strategies with the needs and priorities of this demographic. Using a SWOT framework, the report analyzes social, economic, and regional factors shaping youth migration decisions and offers recommendations to support long-term workforce resilience.
