In 2023-24, over 1 million individuals accessed a food bank in Ontario, visiting almost 7.7 million times. 1 in 16 Ontarians have no choice but to turn to a charity to feed themselves and their families. While food bank use has been on the rise in our province for 8 consecutive years, this is the second year that food banks have experienced an unprecedented surge in demand. In the last 2 years alone, the number of unique individuals accessing food banks has increased by 73 per cent.
